The organization
Since its foundation in 1968, GRT (Group for Transcultural Relations) has been working with socially marginalized groups and individuals by setting up protection mechanisms in order to promote social inclusion. GRT is active in Kenya and Somalia since 1996, where the main fields of intervention are: Community Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Protection (GBV and Street Children) and (forced) Migrations, being expression of GRT’s core areas of expertise.

Within the framework of GRT Protection component, the organization seeks to fill the position of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Expert.

Objectives
The GBV Expert will be responsible for:
 Providing expertise in Gender-Based Violence prevention and response.
 Organizing and deliver training courses to staff and stakeholders
 Engaging with stakeholders to advocate for GBV initiatives and policies.
 Leading the development and writing of project proposals and reports.

Key Responsibilities
1. GBV Expertise
o Develop and implement strategies for GBV prevention and response.
o Provide technical guidance and support to the team on GBV issues.
o Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in GBV.

2. Training Skills
o Prepare training materials on GBV prevention and response
o Plan, organize and deliver training courses

3. Lobbying and Advocacy
o Develop and implement lobbying strategies to influence GBV-related policies.
o Build and maintain relationships with key policymakers, government officials, and other stakeholders.
o Represent the organization at relevant meetings, conferences, and forums.

4. Stakeholder Engagement
o Identify and engage with relevant stakeholders, including NGOs, community groups, and international organizations.
o Facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
o Develop communication materials to raise awareness about GBV issues and the organization’s initiatives.

5. Project Writing
o Lead the drafting of project proposals, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational goals.
o Prepare comprehensive project reports for internal and external stakeholders.
o Collaborate with the team to identify funding opportunities and develop proposals.

Qualifications
 Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, International Development, or related field.
 Minimum of 3 years of experience in GBV prevention and response.
 Proven experience in preparing training materials and delivering training courses
 Knowledge of PCM (Project Cycle Management)
 Proven experience in writing successful project proposals and reports.
 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
 Knowledge of gender-related regulations and legislation in Kenya.
 Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
 Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project)
 Added values: knowledge of MHPSS concepts, experience in delivering MPHSS programs or trainings, knowledge of Italian
