Kenya

Street children are one of the biggest problems facing Kenya, especially the capital Nairobi.

Street children often live in unimaginable conditions after running away from their families or relatives because of violence, separation, or death of their parents, or for a variety of reasons. They find themselves living on the streets of the capital and begging to survive and cope with hunger.

Since 2012, GRT has been working with street children, particularly in the slums of Waithaka, Dagoretti, Mlango Kubwa and Mathare on the outskirts of Nairobi, trying to empower them to improve their living conditions and promote social rehabilitation and inclusion.

Slum Drummers and Boresha Maisha, the two main projects carried out with street children in Nairobi, have both worked in this direction with remarkable results.
