BOTTEGA CREATIVA – CREATIVE WORKSHOP
Project:
The Creative Workshop is a project created within the art sector of the Transcultural Relations Group, Tutti Sopra un Cielo (TS1C), and funded by the OPM Waldensian Table.
The designed activity involves the children drawing and designing a work that they can then make with clay. The works are then assembled together to create a sizable dragon. The work was entirely designed and created by the children, as were two other pictorial and sculptural works.
Another activity, however, fits into the theatrical sphere. The boys presented to a large audience the play Anthropometric, at the San Fedele Theater in Milan.
The show recounts the experiences of Roma boys, suspended between the blows of segregation. It deals with themes such as the memory of violent persecution, the itinerant history of this people and dreams for a more humane future.
The conclusion of this project did not mean the total closure of the whole experience; in fact, the work continued through other projects and outside of them.
Two of the Roma boys who took part in the project were involved as support teachers for local kids participating in the sculpture workshop. In this way, the boys had the opportunity to connect with other Italian or second-generation boys, empowered to play a proactive role.
Where:
The workshop activity was held at the headquarters of Group for Transcultural Relations in Milan.
Objective:
To bring together, through artistic activity, and thus in a free way, boys from different ROM groups, Italian and foreign boys.
Beneficiaries:
The project was first implemented in 2014, initially designed for Roma boys and then to be implemented directly in Roma camps.
Later, however, it was thought to involve other boys as well, choosing locations that are also accessible to different audiences.
